1 can Del Monte canned asparagus
1 regular loaf of white bread
8 oz blue cheese
8 oz cream cheese
1 T mayo
1 beaten egg
melted butter

Directions:
Directions:
Cut all bread crusts off. Roll bread slices flat with rolling pin. Spread with mixture of cream cheese, blue cheese, mayo and egg. Place one asparagus slice in the middle of the bread and roll up. Cut into three pieces. Dip each in melted butter. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350º until well browned.

This was a staple at Big Pat and Big Katie's cocktail parties - mostly held in our basement in Saddle River and accompanied by ping pong tournaments! I suppose you could steam fresh asparagus until al dente to even improve this appetizer more.
