1-1/2 Tbsp yeast, prepared as below

1 stick margarine, melted
3/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup sugar
2 small eggs, beaten
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup milk, scalded
3-1/2 to 4 cups bread flour

Pie filling - Prune is traditional.

Preheat oven to 400º.

Dissolve yeast in 1/8 cup very warm water and 1/2 Tbsp sugar. Let set for 10 minutes.

Mix together melted margarine, salt, sugar, eggs, vanilla and hot milk. Add flour, one cup at a time. Add yeast mix until dough makes a ball.

Cover and let rise for 1 hour.

Roll into balls and place on greased cookie sheet 1-1/2 inches apart. Let rise to double in size, then press down. Make indentation in center of dough and fill with desired filling. Let rise about 5 minutes.

Bake for 8 - 10 minutes or until nicely browned.
