8 c flour
2 c sugar
2 tbsp. baking powder
1 c shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
water
your choice of filling

Directions:
Directions:
Mix flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Using pastry blender, blend in shortening. Add enough warm water to form firm dough. Separate forming 1 1/2 in. balls. Roll into 5 in. circles. Place filling in middle of circle. Fold in half and pinch ends so filling does not leak out. Place parchment paper on cookie sheet. Place empanadas on parchment paper. Bake for 20 min. or golden brown at 350º. You can use applesauce, any pie filling, or fresh fruit as your filling.
