3 3/4 c. Swans Down cake flour
3 c. sugar
2 sticks butter
3/4 c. Crisco shortening
5 large eggs
1 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven 275º. Sift cake four and set aside. Cream together sugar, butter, and Crisco until creamy and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time and mix well after each addition. Add flour and milk alternately, starting and ending with flour. Pour into greased and floured tube 10" pan. Bake at 275º for 1 hour, and then bake at 300º for 20 more minutes or until toothpick inserted in middle of cake comes out clean.

The batter for this cake will make a large sheet cake or 3 (9 in.) layers for other type cakes. My recipe for Pineapple Icing in this cookbook is awesome to ice the layers or sheet cake!
