1 cup sugar
1 cube butter
2 eggs
2 ripe mashed bananas
1 Ĺ cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
4 T buttermilk (or sour cream thinned with milk)

5 T brown sugar
2 T butter
3 T heavy cream

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs and bananas. Combine flour and baking soda Ė mix gently into banana mixture alternately with buttermilk and vanilla.
Bake 350 degrees for 30-35 min.
Combine sugar and butter in heavy saucepan and cook until bubbling. Slowly whisk in cream until incorporated.
Pour on top of cake Ė add nuts or coconut if desired and broil until bubbly.
