Crab Apples (choose sound crab apples uniform in size. Do not pair them)
1 qt. vinegar
1 c. water
1 qt. sugar
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. cloves
1 tsp. mace
1 tsp. allspice

Directions:
Directions:
To make spiced syrup, stir together all ingredients except crab apples. Heat thoroughly. When cool, add crab apples and heat slowly, being careful not to bust the fruit. Let stand in syrup over night. Pack cold into clean jars fill within 1/2 inch of top of jar with syrup. Process at simmering temperature of 180ºF for 20 minutes.
