4 medium sized apples
1 c. water
3/4 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1 tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. shortening
1/2 c. milk

Put 3/4 c. sugar and water in 9" square pan over slow fire while mixing dough. Combine flour, 1 tbsp. sugar, salt, baking powder, shortening and milk. Mix as for biscuits. Roll in oblong shape. Spread with apple. Roll as jelly roll. Slice into 1 1/2 inch pieces. Place in hot syrup. Roll with butter and cinnamon. Bake in hot oven until brown.
