Chicken Paprikas Recipe

4-6 lbs. chicken disjointed
1 lg onion, chopped
3 tsp shortening
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 pint sour cream
1 C water
2 T flour
salt to taste

Dumplings
2 eggs
1/2 C milk
1 tsp salt
1 C sifted flour

Directions:
Directions:
Brown onions in shortening, add seasonings and chicken, brown for 10 minutes. Add water, cover and simmer slowly until tender. Remove chicken. Mix sour cream and flour well, add to drippings, and mix well again. (for more gravy, add 1/2 pt of sweet cream). Put chicken back into gravy and simmer for 5 minutes.

Dumplings
Beat eggs and mix all ingredients together. Scrap bits from plate into boiling water or use dumpling maker. Cook 15 minutes, rinse in cold water and drain. Add about 3 oz melted butter.
