1/2 c. margarine
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. soda (dissolved in 1 1/2 tsp. hot water)
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/4 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. anise
1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Cream together margarine, brown sugar, and eggs. Add remaining ingredients and mix well. Make into dime-size rolls; chill or freeze. Slice and bake at 375 on greased cookie sheet for 5-8 minutes or until lightly brown.
