Preheat oven to 400°

Greased or paper-lined muffin cups.

COMBINE (in medium bowl):
1 and 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/3 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger

COMBINE (in separate bowl):
1 egg, lightly beaten
3/4 c. milk
1/4 c. vegetable oil

STIR ABOVE MIXTURE INTO DRY INGREDIENTS JUST UNTIL MOISTENED.

FILL GREASED OR PAPER-LINED MUFFIN CUPS WITH A ROUNDED TABLESPOON OF BATTER. TOP EACH WITH A ROUNDED TEASPOON OF APPLE BUTTER AND REMAINING BATTER.

Topping

COMBINE:
1/2 c. chopped pecans
3 tbsp. sugar


SPRINKLE TOPPING OVER MUFFINS. BAKE FOR 15 TO 18 MIN. COOL IN PAN 10 MIN. BEFORE REMOVING TO WIRE RACK.
