Cabbage leaves, washed
1 lb. ground chuck or ground round
2-3 cloves of garlic, minced
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 c. uncooked rice
1-1/2 t. parsley
1-1/2 t. oregano
1 t. sugar
1 can tomatoes, mashed
1 large can tomato sauce
2-3 t. lemon juice
1 t. oregano
1 c. raisins (optional)

Place cabbage leaves in boiling water and wilt leaves. Let cool.

While cabbage leaves are cooling, mix together meat, garlic, onions, rice, parsley, oregano and sugar. Roll small amount of meat mixture (approximately the size of a meatball) in individual cabbage leaves.

Combine tomatoes, tomato sauce, lemon juice, and 1 t. oregano in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil. Put cabbage rolls in a large baking pan. Pour boiling sauce over cabbage rolls (scatter 1 cup of raisins on top of sauce-optional) and cook at around 350 for 1 hour.
