1/2 c. butter
1-1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
2-1/2 T. cocoa
2 oz. red food coloring
2-1/4 c. sifted cake flour
1 t. salt
1 t. soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 T. vinegar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Blend in cocoa and red food coloring.

Sift together cake flour, salt and soda. Mix buttermilk and vinegar; add alternately with dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Pour into layer pans or bundt pan that has been heavily greased (not floured) with a solid shortening (not butter, margarine or oil).

Bake at 350 for 45 to 55 minutes. Allow to rest 20 minutes before removing from pan(s).

1 stick butter
1 large pkg. cream cheese
1 box powdered sugar
2 t. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
