Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 C butter or margarine
2 C brown sugar, packed
1/2 C cup light or dark corn syrup
1 T salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 T vanilla
6 qt popped corn
Peanuts or other nuts, if desired

Directions:
Directions:
Melt butter. Stir in brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Then boil for 5 minutes without stirring. Remove from heat. Stir in soda and vanilla.
It is easier to divide the corn into two batches and pour the hot syrup over each. Mix with two large spoons. Turn into two large shallow pans. Bake 1 hour in 250º oven. Cool before breaking apart and store in a tightly covered container. During the baking, the popcorn can be stirred every 15 minutes for a more even distribution of the caramel coating, but it is not necessary.
