1 1/4 c flour
1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, divided
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 c milk
3 T melted butter or margarine
1 1/2 tsp vanilla, divided
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 3/4 cups boiling water
powdered sugar for dusting top

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Combine flour, 3/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Add milk, melted butter and 1/2 tsp vanilla;stir until smooth. Stir in chocolate chips. Spread evenly in 9 in square pan. In separate bowl, whisk together remaining 3/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa; gradually stir in boiling water and remaining 1 tsp vanilla. Carefully pour mixture evenly over batter that is already spread in the pan. Very carefully put in preheated oven. Bake 30-35 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve while warm with a scoop of ice cream on top, better yet with JoAnn's homemade vanilla custard!

This dessert is the coolest thing. When you bake it the cake rises to the top and the bottom layer is like chocolate pudding. My girls absolutely love this!
