3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 eggs
2 cups plain flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup chopped pecans
1 (10 oz.) jar Maraschino cherries, drained & chopped
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350. In a large mixing bowl cream together the sugar, butter and eggs until light and fluffy. Sift together flour, soda and salt, add to creamed mixture with buttermilk, beat until blended. Stir in nuts, cherries and vanilla. Pour into greased 9x5x3 loaf pan and bake 55-60 minutes. Remove from pan and cool. Glaze with a powder sugar glaze if desired.
