3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup Land of lakes butter
4 egg yolks
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
3/4 cup half & half

1/4 cup Land of lakes butter
3 cups powdered sugar
2 tsp vanilla
3 to 4 Tbsp milk

Heat oven to 350 degrees

In large mixer bowl combine sugar and 3/4 cup butter. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy ( 1 to 2 minutes). Add egg yolks and vanilla Continue beating, scraping bowl often, until well mixed ( 1 minute). Reduce speed to low. Beat, gradually adding flour, baking powder and salt alternately with half and half and scraping bowl often until well mixed ( 1 to 2 minutes). Batter will be thick. Divide batter between 2 greased and floured 8 inch round pans. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes, remove from pan. Cool completely. Meanwhile in 1 quart saucepan melt butter over medium low heat until lightly browned ( 4 to 5 minutes).
In small mixer bowl combine all frosting ingredients except milk . Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often and gradually adding enough milk for desired spreading consistency. Spread frosting between cooled cake layer; frost entire cake.
Cake can be baked in a 13x9 inch pan for 25 to 30 minutes
