6 tbsp. flour 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 2 lbs. round steak about 1 inch thick 4 medium onions - optional 6 tbsps. shortening 1/2 cup choppped celery l green pepper,chopped 1 clove garlic 3/4 cup chili sauce 3/4 cup water
Pound or rub flour, salt, and pepper into meat. Cut into 8 portions. Add half of shortening to pan and brown onions slightly. Remove from pan. Add half of shortening and brown steak on both sides. Place meat in a baking pan and cover with onions, celery, pepper, chili sauce, water, and garlic. Can add mushrooms, too. Cover and bake at 325 degrees until tender. (about 2 hours.
