3/4 c. finely chopped pecans,
1/3 c. sugar,
1 1/2 tsp. hot water

Ingredients for Cookies:
1 pkg. (18 & 3/4oz.) German chocolate cake mix with pudding,
1/2 c. vegetable oil,
2 Lg. eggs, beaten,
6 oz. of semi-sweet chocolate chips (1 cup),
1 c. pecan halves (48 pecan halves total)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheets. For Topping: Mix chopped pecans, sugar, and hot water together and set aside. For Cookies: Place cake mix in a large bowl and press out any lumps with the back of a spoon. By hand, beat in oil and eggs. Stir in chocolate chips and pecan pieces. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto baking sheets. Flatten each cookie lightly with the back of a spoon. Sprinkle 1 tsp. of the topping over each cookie. Firmly press a pecan half in the center of each. Bake for 8-10 min. until top is set. Cool on baking sheets for 1 minute. Remove to wire racks to cool. Serves 48.
