1 4lb whole chicken fryer
1/2 tsp each salt & pepper
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1 onion,quartered
3 garlic cloves, peeled
2 T margarine, melted

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425º.
Remove chicken giblets from cavity of chicken and rinse inside, pat dry with paper towel; place chicken in roasting pan and salt & pepper inside & out of chicken.
Sprinkle cavity with thyme, add garlic cloves, 1/2 of onion; brush outside with melted margarine.
Tuck legs under neck skin as close as possible; scatter remaining onion around chicken in pan.
Roast chicken in oven for 1 hour.
