1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup Crisco
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 cup water
2 cups plain flour
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
dash of salt
2 eggs (slightly beaten)
1/2 cup buttermilk

Icing

1 stick butter
3 or 4 tablespoons cocoa
1 pound powdered sugar
6 tablespoons whole milk

Cake:

Mix the butter, Crisco, cocoa and water in a pot and bring to a boil. While this is heating to a boil, mix the flour, sugar, baking soda and dash of salt. When the water mixture comes to a boil and everything is combined, remove from the head and add the flour mixture. Stir well. Add the slightly beaten eggs and buttermilk. Mix well and pour into a 9 X 13 cake pan. Bake at 350 until it passes the toothpick test.

Icing

Heat everything together until it is dissolved.

As soon as the cake comes out of the oven, put some chopped nuts on top (if desired) and pout the warm frosting over the top of the cake.
