2 1/2 c. sugar
3 c. flour
2 1/2 sticks margarine
1 c. milk
5 lg. eggs
1/2 c. Hershey's cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring

1 c. sugar
1 c. white Karo syrup
4 egg whites
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. white vanilla flavoring
1 1/2 c. chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 350. Start out in large mixing bowl: combine sugar and margarine mixing to well creamy. Add eggs one at a time beating after each. In a separate bowl mix flour and cocoa together. Then add to cake mixture alternating with milk. Always start with flour and end with flour. Last add vanilla. Make sure everything is mixed well. Spray 3 - 9" cake pans. Pour batter into the 3 pans and cook at 350 for 25-30 minutes. Allow layers to cool completely.

Icing: Beat egg whites up until they are really stiff. Sprinkle a little bit of cream of tartar into egg whites. Cook syrup and sugar on medium heat until it gets thick. Once it has cooked thick enough to pour into egg whites beat until thick. Add vanilla and spread over layers.
