1 ( 2 1/2 - 3 lbs) chicken
1 onion
2 c. flour
1/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 to 1 c. buttermilk
1 - 1 1/2 c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Boil chicken with onion until tender. Bone chicken. Make dumpling dough using shortening, egg, soda, salt and buttermilk. Add boned chicken and soup to chicken broth; bring to a rolling boil. Roll dough thin; drop into boiling broth and cook until tender. Add milk, bring to a boil.
