1/2 Cup all- purpose flour,
1 3/4 cups packed brown sugar,
1 tsp baking powder,
4 large eggs at room temp,
1/4 tsp salt,
1 tbs vanilla extract,
1/4 cup ( 1/2 stick butter),
1 cup walnuts, toasted and chopped,
1 pound bittersweet (not unsweetened or semisweet chocolate) chopped,
7 1.4 oz chocolate covered English toffee bars (such as Heath)

Combine first 3 ingredients in small bowl; whisk to blend. Stir in chocolate and butter in top of double boiler set over simmering water until melted and smooth. Remove from water.Cool to lukewarm (about 15 minutes). Using electric mixer ,beat sugar and eggs until thick, about 7 minutes. Beat in chocolate mixture and vanilla. Stir in flour mixture, then toffee and nuts. Chill batter until firm. Preheat oven to 350º. Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment or waxed paper. Drop by 2 tbs cookie scoop onto sheets about 2 1/2 inches apart. Bake until tops are dry and cracked but cookies are still soft to touch, about 10 minutes. Cool on sheets. Note: can be made 2 days ahead. Store airtight at room temp. They freeze well.
