3 cups sliced fresh okra
1 slightly beaten egg
1/2 cup corn meal or flour
1/4 cup Crisco

Directions:
Directions:
Cut fresh, tender okra pods into 1/4-inch slices. If the pod is tough, discard. Only use tender pods. Pour egg over okra and coat. Toss corn meal or flour over okra, making certain all slices are coated. In large skillet heat about 1/4 cup Crisco until very hot. Put okra in a skillet and cook. Turn when crisp on one side.
