1 gal. cucumbers after slicing 1/4 inch.
1 scan cup lime
1 tsp. alum
(mix together lime & alum)
4 lbs. sugar
3 pt. vinegar
3 tsp. pickling spice

Directions:
Directions:
Cover cucumbers with ice and water and lime and alum.
Let stand in refrigerator 24 hours. Wash and place in water and ice and back in refrigerator for 24 hours. Mix 4 lbs. sugar; 3 pints vinegar; and 3 tsp. pickling spice.
Drain cucumbers and pour this mixture over cucumbers and back in refrigerator for 24 hours.
Put on stove and bring to a boil and boil 20 minutes. Put in jars and seal.

This was another one of mother's famous recipes that originated from Mimi. This was made from homegrown burpless cucumbers that were plentiful in the summer time.
