1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/4 c. unsifted flour
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. cocoa
2 tsp. soda
1 c. hot water
Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl cream shortening, sugar, salt, and vanilla. Add eggs and beat with mixer till mixture is very light and creamy. Add flour and buttermilk and beat 2 more minutes. In small mixing bowl mix cocoa, soda. Add hot water. Add to rest of batter. Put into three 8" round pans or jelly roll pan. Bake at 350º for about 40 minutes. Frost with Glossy Chocolate Frosting.
