3 egg whites
1/4 t. cream of tarter
1/8 t. salt
3/4 c. sugar
6 red & white peppermint candy canes, crumbled fine.

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 200 º. Cover cookie sheet with aluminum foil. Beat egg whites, cream of tarter, & salt until foamy. Beat in sugar, 1 tbsp. at a time. Beat 3 - 5 minutes until stiff & glossy. Don't underbeat.
Fill a decorating bag with a piping tube with a 1/2" to 5/8" opening. Pipe onto foil (or drop by teaspoonful's onto foil). Sprinkle with peppermint & bake 1 hr. 15 min. to 1 hr. 30 min., until dry & meringues can be removed from foil. DO NOT OPEN OVEN FOR FIRST 50 MINUTES of baking time, or will crack. Cool completely on foil.
