5 c. water
4 c. frozen hash browns
1 7.6 oz. pkg. Betty Crocker Butter & Herb Mashed Potato Mix
1/2 c. butter
4 oz. cream cheese
1 c. Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
1/2 c. sour cream
1/2 t. garlic
1/2 t. salt
1/2 t. pepper
2 c. canned french-fried onion rings

Preparation Time: 20 minutes

Boil water and add hash browns for five minutes. Drain. Prepare mashed potatoes according to directions. Soften butter and cream cheese together in microwave. In a large bowl, mix together the hash browns, mashed potatoes, butter and cream cheese, Jack cheese, sour cream, garlic salt, salt & pepper. Place in greased, 2-qt. casserole. Bake at 350º for 25-35 min. or until brown on top. Sprinkle onion rings over casserole and bake 5-8 min. longer (until onions are golden brown).
