1 pastry crust for a deep-dish pie
1/2 C sugar
3 T flour
1 t cinnamon
1/8 t salt
6 C thinly sliced peeled apples (golden delicious or fuji apples)


Crumb Topping:
1 C packed brown sugar
1/2 C flour
1/2 C quick cooking rolled oats
1/2 C butter



Caramel topping:
1/2 C chopped pecans
1/4 C caramel topping

Serves: 8
Preparation Time: 30 minutes

Crumb Topping: Stir together brown sugar, flour & oats. Cut in butter until topping is like coarse crumbs. Set aside.

Pie: In large bowl stir together the sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt. Add apple slices and gently toss until covered.
Transfer apple mixture to the pie shell. Sprinkle crumb topping over apple mixture. Place pie on a cookie sheet so the drippings don't drop into your oven. Cover edges of pie with aluminum foil. Bake in a preheated 375º oven for 25 minutes. Then remove foil and put back in oven for another 25-30 minutes. Remove from oven. Sprinkle pie with chopped pecans, then drizzle with caramel on top. Cool on a wire rack.
