1 c. white sugar
1 egg
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shortening
2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. ground cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Cream sugar, egg, salt and shortening together. Add flour, baking soda and spices. Mix well. Roll teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and roll the balls in sugar. These spread a little so give some room between cookies. Bake 5 to 6 minutes.
