Bottom layer:
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. shortening
1 cup raisins
½ cup milk
½ tsp. vanilla

Top layer:
2 cups boiling water
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp. butter
¼ tsp. nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a 6 cup baking dish. Sift dry ingredients (bottom layer) together into a mixing bowl. Mix in shortening, add raisins, milk and vanilla. Spoon into baking dish.

Then combine ingredients for top layer.

Combine boiling water, brown sugar, butter and nutmeg and stir until sugar in dissolved. Pour over the batter in baking dish and bake in oven about 25 minutes.

Cake forms on top and sauce forms underneath.
