1 cup flour (cake flour) ¾ teaspoon cream of tartar 1 ½ cups sugar ½ cup water 6 egg whites (well-beaten) ¼ teaspoon salt 6 egg yolks (well-beaten) 1 t. extract (vanilla or almond)
Sift flour, cream of tartar three times. Boil sugar and water till it threads. Pour syrup over beaten egg whites and salt, beating constantly. Add egg yolks. Fold in flour gradually. Add extract. Pour into greased tube pan. Bake in a slow oven for 1 hour.
