1/2 c. shortening (half butter)
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla

Mix dough and roll out small amounts on a floured board and cut. Bake at 375ºF for 10 minutes.
