1 pkg dates
3/4 tsp baking soda
1 c boiling water
1 egg beaten
1 c sugar
2 c sifted flour
1 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt
3/4 c chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Chop dates into small pieces. Sprinkle with baking soda. Pour boiling water over dates. Cool. Add beaten egg, sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and nuts. Pour into large ungreased loaf pan.
Bake for one hour at 350º
