1 c. butter or marg., 1 c. sugar, 3 egg yolks, 1c. sour cream, grated rind of 1 orange 2 c. sifted cake flour or(1 3.4 c. regular flour), 1 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp. baking soda, 3 egg whites,
For Syrup: juice of 2 oranges, juice of 1 lemon, 3/4 c. sugar, dash salt.

Cream butter and sugar then add egg yolks, sour cream and orange rind. beat til fluffy. Sift dry ingredients. Stir into mixture. Beat egg whites stiff, not dry and then fold them into batter. Oil and flour a tube pan. Pour batter into pan and bake at 325º for 1 hour. Cool cake. To make syrup, mix orange and lemon juice with sugar and salt and boil 3-4 min. Pour syrup slowly over the cake a little at a time with a spoon so it will be absorbed better. Serve with whipped cream and orange slice.

This recipe is from my Aunt Marge (Joustra) Howard. She would make it for our Christmas gatherings and our family especially loved it. Now my sister Marlene VanderHeide makes it for our Joustra Christmas Party. When Don was alive she would always set a couple slices aside for him.
