8 medium tart cooking apples, (Granny Smiths)sliced (8/cups)
1C cup sugar
1C cup Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
1C cup butter or margarine, softened
1T Tablespoon ground cinnamon
4T Tablespoons sugar
Cream or Ice cream, if desired

Heat oven to 375ºF..
Peel, core, and slice apples in 1/8 inches. Layer apples in 8in square pan. In medium bowl cut sugar and flour into room temperature butter until well mixed. Sprinkle 2T of sugar over the layered apple, next layer cinnamon over apples, sprinkle remaining 2T of sugar. Spread mixture of sugar, flour, and butter over apples..
Bake about 20-30 minutes or until topping is golden brown and apples are tender when pierced with a fork. Serve warm with Ice cream.
