1 large chicken
1 onion, chopped (optional)
1 tsp. salt (or to taste)
1 tsp. black pepper
1 Tbsp. butter
Thin Dumplings:
2 cups flour, plain
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup butter
cold water

Directions:
Directions:
Boil first five ingredients until chicken is tender. Strain and reserve broth. Remove all skin and take meat off bone. Cut meat into large pieces.
Dumplings:
Mix all ingredients and roll out like you do a pie crust. Cut in strips about 1 inch wide. (May Half strips if desired). Drop into boiling broth. Cook uncovered, til done (about 10 minutes). Add chicken and heat thoroughly. DO NOT STIR! Shake to mix well. (Stirring will tear the dumplings)
Note: If not enough liquid, add one can of chicken broth.
