How to decorate the Red, White, and Blue Cupcake:

Step 1: Prepare a large piping bag with a large, round tip (I used a 1A).

Step 2: Use a paintbrush to paint stripes of color on the inside of the bag starting near the tip and extending 4 or 5 inches up the bag (I used Wilton gel colors, one stripe of red and one of blue on opposite sides.

Step 3: Fill the bag carefully with white frosting.


Step 4: Pipe the frosting in a swirl pattern starting at the outer edge of the cupcake. The colors will be picked up by the frosting. Do not turn the cupcake. It takes practice.
