2 cups cold water 4 cups sliced potatoes 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp baking soda
2 Tbsp butter 2 Tbsp lard 1 onion finely cut 4 Tbsp flour 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp celery seed or celery salt 2 cups milk
Combine butter, onion and lard in a skillet and let simmer. Add flour, salt and celery seed. Add milk and cook until smooth. Drain potatoes, put in casserole dish and cover with sauce. Bake for 45 minutes at 350º.
