1/4 c. butter,
1 c. flour,
1 c. sugar,
1 tbl. baking powder,
2/3 c. milk,
1/4 tsp. nutmeg,
1/4 tsp. cinnamon,
1 tsp. grated lemon,
3 1/2 c. fruit with juice (peaches, apricot, blackberries or cherries),

Melt butter in 9 inch pan. Combine dry ingredients alternately with milk. Add fruit and juice. Pour over batter in pan, do not stir. Bake 350 º for 40 min. Serve warm or cold. The cake part bakes around the top and browns in place with the fruit in a pudding below. Good served with slightly whipped cream if desired.
