1 3/4 c. flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening (Crisco)
1/2 c. creamy peanut butter
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 egg
2 T. milk
1 tsp. finely shredded orange peel (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Stir together flour, baking soda salt. In a mixer bowl beat shortening and peanut butter on medium speed for 30 seconds. Add granulated sugar and brown sugar and beat until fluffy. Add egg, milk, and orange peel, beat well. Add dry ingredients to beaten mixture and beat until well blended. Cover dough and chill 3 hours. On lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8" thickness and cut into desired shapes. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350 for about 8 minutes. Remove to wire rake and cool I sprinkle with colored sugar before baking.
