1 lb. hamburger
4 Tbsp. shortening
1 large onion (chopped)
1 tsp. cumin powder (optional)
1 tsp. chili powder (optional)
1 tsp. salt
1 clove garlic (chopped) (optional)
1 or 2 c. strained thick tomato juice

Directions:
Directions:
Brown meat in fat, stirring and mashing during cooking. This meat should not be in lumps. Add onion when meat is about half cooked. Add other ingredients and simmer slowly for about 30 minutes. Serve hot over dogs in buns.
