1/2 c. crisco
1 c. sugar
1 c. raisins
1 1/2 c. applesauce
1 egg
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 Tbsp. hot water

Blend Crisco©, sugar and egg. Add raisins and applesauce. Set aside. In a separate bowl, sift salt, spices and flour. Add to wet ingredients in small portions. Before the last of the flour is added, stir in baking soda which has been dissolved in hot water. Beat well. Pour into a tube pan or 12"x8" or 13"x9" pan. Bake 60 minutes at 350º or until a toothpick inserted in center of pan comes out clean.
