Directions:When you come home from school you can smell this a mile away.
Put that big Iron pot on the stove with a bone from the fresh killed hogs. Boil it until all the meat comes off the bone. Next you will go to the pantry and take out a jar of tomatoes, a jar of beans, a jar of peas, a jar of okra and any other jars of vegetables you have. Then you will peek some of those potatoes that come from the dirt behind the house. You will peel and cook the potatoes in the mixture until they are tender. If you don't have potatoes use some rice or macaroni. It will still be great soup. Pour in all your vegetables. Simmer on top of the stove while the cornbread is cooking. When the door opens and the kids come in just pour the soup in the bowls, say the blessing and cut the cornbread. Chow Down. Best eating ever.
If you don't have jars you can use the frozen, the soup will not taste quite as good. ENJOY. |

Notes: I can still remember the feelings that I had when I would smell the aroma of the soup before getting to the front door after walking that mile from the School Boat dock. Especially in the Cold Winter Weather. CAN YOU REMEMBER THIS?
