5 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp soda
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
1/4 cup sugar
add enough milk to make a soft dough

Alternate recipe for dough:

3 eggs beaten
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups sweet cream (or 1 can evaporated milk)
3 tsp baking powder
5-6 cups flour to make soft dough
PUMPKIN FILLING:

4 cups cooked, mashed pumpkin
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Beat eggs: add cooking oil and blend well. Add sugar, salt, cream (or milk) and baking powder. Mix in enough flour to make a soft dough. Roll out dough into 6 to 8 inch rounds. Combine filling ingredients. Put 1/2 cup filling on each round of dough. Fold dough round in half over filling; pinch edges shut to seal. Bake about 30 min in a 325 degree oven, or until lightly browned.
