1 cup butter
4 T. icing sugar
2 cups flour
2 cups chopped dates
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 cup water
lemon juice to taste

Cut butter into the flour, add icing sugar, and knead until well blended. Press small amounts of dough into small muffing tins.
Bake at 425 for 10 minutes. Cool.

In a medium pot, simmer dates, brown sugar, water, and lemon juice until dates are soft. Cool and then fill cooled tart shells. Ice with butter icing ( maple is the best flavor) if desired.
