1 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup molasses
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
2 tsp. baking soda dissolved in milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
4 cups flour (more or less)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and brown sugar; add egg. Add molasses and dry ingredients interchangeably. Mix well.

Roll out to desired thickness and cut into shapes. Put on a greased baking sheet.

Bake for 12-15 minutes in oven at 350.
