Sift the above ingredients together and add 1 cup boiling water. Let cool awhile - 15 minutes.
Beat 5 egg whites with 1/2 tsp. cream tartar until foamy, then add 2 tsp. baking powder and beat until stiff. Fold in cooled mixture and almond flavoring. Put in ungreased 9x13 pan. Bake in 350 oven for 30-35 minutes.
