Notes: This cake has been around as long as I can remember. Mom [Vena Weese Holland] always made it for Terry's birthday. I like to add a cup of cold coffee in place of the water to give it a bit of a mocha flavor; but it is amazing and moist in the original recipe. I had read that during the Depression when some cake ingredients may have been scarce that cakes such as this were developed since Mayonnaise is made of eggs and oil. Aunt Reba also sent in this recipe and called it Chocolate Salad Dressing Cake!
