1c. white sugar
1c. water
3c. chopped apple
2 eggs (beaten)
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2c. shortening
2 1/2c. flour
1/2c. brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
pinch of salt
1/2c. nuts (walnuts preferably)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream the shortening and sugar. Then add the eggs, salt, flour, baking soda, baking powder, water, and diced apple. Put in greased pan and then sprinkle brown sugar and nuts on top. Bake for 30-40 minutes.
